About Me I became a Counsellor out of a strong desire to help people.  I have been involved in the helping professions for some time, having been a Primary School Teacher for seventeen years.  I have now turned to helping people on a one to one basis. My ethos is that of the Person-Centred Counsellor.  This is a form of counselling developed by Carl Rogers. As a person-centred counsellor, I will: As a member of the BACP, I am bound by its ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy and subject to the professional conduct.    I have a degree in Philosophy and find this is an area that has much to offer clients who come to me for counselling.  The ancient Greeks in particular have much to teach us about how to live the good life.  I sometimes refer to these matters when it seems apt to do so. My hobbies include writing poetry, playing the piano and saxophone, photography, football, swimming, walking, board gaming and golf. * Provide warmth, empathy and respect. * Value your humanity and individuality. * Endeavour not to or judge or interpret.  I will simply listen to you and engage with your story. * Share your experience so that we can work together to engage your potential for change. * Believe in your potential to move forward. * Believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is the most important thing in the      healing process.
